Texas Holdem is the most popular form of poker. It is a community card game that is typically played with a minimum of two and a maximum of ten players. This means that all the players at the table are dealt two hole cards and then five common cards, which are shared among them. The goal of the players is to make the best five-card poker hand from the five community cards and their two hole cards.
The game begins with the dealer shuffling a standard 52-card deck and dealing two hole cards to each player. After this, betting begins. The two players to the left of the dealer are obligated to post small and big blinds before any other action. The small blind is usually half of the big blind and is posted by the player seated immediately to the left of the dealer. The big blind is posted by the player seated to the left of the small blind. After the blinds are posted, the remaining players can either fold, call, or raise the bet.
Once the betting round is complete, three community cards (the flop) are dealt face-up on the table. The players then take part in a second round of betting. A fourth community card (the turn) is then dealt face-up followed by a third round of betting. After this, the fifth and final community card (the river) is dealt and the players take part in the fourth and final round of betting. After the final round of betting, the players reveal their hole cards and the one with the best five-card hand wins the pot.
