Mahjong is a tile-based game that originated in China and is popular around the world. In Georgia, the game is played with 144 tiles and several rules that make it an exciting game. The goal of the game is to make a 'Mahjong' or an arrangement of four sets and a pair.
To start the game, each player is dealt 13 tiles, and the players must form four sets and a pair with these tiles. Players must be selective when making sets, as some combinations might be deemed invalid. The validity of sets depends on the type of game being played, and usually, the game is divided into two parts: the first part is the numbered tiles, and the second part is the honor tiles.
The numbered tiles contain characters, circles, and sticks. The characters represent different numbers, and the circles and sticks signify directions. Honor tiles are composed of four wind tiles and three dragon tiles. The dragon tiles can be either red, green, or white, and the wind tiles can be either East, South, West, or North. Lastly, the fourth type of tile is the flower tiles, and these are special tiles that act as wild cards.
